Charities

Local organizations are at the heart of what we do. Each quarter, our members nominate charities and community groups making a difference in Airdrie.

Nominating an Organization

Registered Charities

Eligible for Q2 and Q4 meetings. 

Must provide tax receipts

Non-Registered Groups

Eligible for Q2 and Q4 meetings.

General Eligibility Requirements

We want to be open to helping as many local organizations as we can. Eligibility depends partly on whether the meeting is designated for registered charities or community groups.

    Must not have received the $10,000+ grand prize in the previous year

    Must be willing to provide tax receipts where applicable

    Must be based in, or provide service to, Airdrie

    Must be nominated by an existing 100 Airdrie Men member

Ready to Nominate an Organization?

If the group meets our requirements, send an email to info@theairdrie100.ca with the following:

    • Name of the organization
    • Contact person
    • Brief description of why they deserve to be nominated
    • Confirmation they can issue tax receipts, if applicable
    • Website or social-media link

PROCESS

Nominations

1 - Nominate

Members submit eligible organizations.

2 - Select

Before each meeting, three organizations are randomly selected.

3 - Present

Selected groups prepare a short presentation and share their work with members at the meeting.

Prior to each meeting, we will randomly draw three charities/organizations, confirm their availability, and announce the selected presenters on our social media channels.

Whenever possible, the draw is weighted to favor at least one new charity/organization. 

We strongly encourage the selected charities to promote the upcoming meeting with their supporters and followers so they can attend, hear the presentations, and participate in the vote. 

Meeting Presentations

At each meeting, presenting groups are given about 5 minutes to present;

Charities should strive to answer the following questions:

    • What is it that you do?
    • Where will the money go?
    • How does your work impact Airdrie
    • What will the money mean to your charity in the short-term? Long-term?

We welcome all manners of presentations.

      • However, if you have A/V requirements (projectors, laptops, etc) please allow ample time for setup.
      • Also, keep in mind the variables that come with A/V requirements (participant sight lines at the venue, audio quality, file / operating system compatibility, etc).
      • If it is not required, we encourage you to forego A/V and just speak from the heart.
  • Similarly, any required handouts and/or info packages will be left up to the presenting charities to distribute prior to the meeting.

Tips for Presenters

We have someone on the board that available to coach you prior to the meeting;

Some tips:

  • Keep the presentations short and to the point;
  • Be as authentic as possible!
  • Share and promote!
    • Charities are strongly encouraged to share their participation on their social media channels.
    • Voting is almost always very close (we've even had a tie!) and your announcement may encourage one of your members to join. It may be the deciding vote!
